Lycoming County Genealogical Society Program - March 23, 2019
Have you ever wondered if you were eligible to join the Sons or Daughters of the American Revolution? Would you like to find out? Please join us at the March 23rd meeting of the Lycoming County Genealogical Society at the Thomas T. Taber Museum, 858 W. Fourth Street, Williamsport. Come for refreshments at 12:30 p.m.; the program will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Paul Metzger, Registrar with the Tiadaghton Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and former PA State Registrar, and Cris Gansell-Whitcomb, Regent of the Lycoming Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will speak on the activities of the local chapters and eligibility for membership. Both speakers, as well as members of the Genealogical Society, will aid interested people in how to find and record the information needed for acceptance in both organizations.
According to Wikipedia, the S.A.R was founded in 1890 and has admitted about 175,000 members since then; nearly one million women have joined the D.A.R since it was founded about 125 years ago.
The Lycoming County Genealogical Society is an all-volunteer organization, whose mission is to encourage interest in genealogy; to exchange information; and to sponsor educational programs.
