"Some Infinities: A tribute to the life and vision of Kate Paul"
During the month of May, Converge Gallery is delighted to be showing the works of last year's "Selfie" winner, Kate Paul for her solo exhibition "Some Infinities: A tribute to the life and vision of Kate Paul"
This collection of paintings, etchings and sculpture are in response to an idea of trying to understand both small moments in space and great expanses; such as, shadows passing along the grass as clouds move past the sun or the light from distant stars and our role in the greater cosmos. The wonder and confusion and the impossibility of understanding it all is my primary inspiration for making artwork. How can we understand infinity from our finite selves? There is a wealth of moments and ideas for images that fuel Paul's work as "some infinities"!
In addition to the works Kate had originally prepped for the show, we will be showing a retrospective of her early works influenced by her background in theatrical scenery painting, and concluding with her final works, transformed by her introspection and perseverance after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2010.
The exhibition opening will be held on Friday, May 5th from 6-9pm. An exclusive Gallery Insiders preview hour will be held from 5:00 - 6:00. RSVP is required and attendees must register in advance at https://convergegallery.com/register-collectors-preview-hour/. The exhibition runs from May 5th - May 27th, 2017.
