Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis for the Prevention of HIV Infection

The Lock Haven University Public Health Club invites area health professionals and social service personnel to an educational program about "Prophylaxis Treatment for HIV Infection", Wednesday, April 3, 2019, 7 pm, Greenberg Auditorium-Room 105, Willis Health Professions Center, Railroad Street, Lock Haven University campus. Free parking in front of the building. Prophylaxis medication or PrEP for the prevention of HIV infection has been available in the US for several years but is still lacks widespread use among populations at risk for exposure. Dr. Darrell McBride, Infectious Disease Physician, Geisinger Medical Center, will discuss the use of PrEP in patients and how to discuss sensitive issues with patients. The Public Health Club at Lock Haven University is recognizing National Public Health Week the first week of April. Lock Haven offers an undergraduate program in Community & Public Health Education. The event is free and open to the public. It is especially geared towards people in the health professions or studying in a health-related field.
